Irvine was chosen in 2008 by CNNMoney.com as the fourth best place to live in the United States. It is also known as one of the safest places to live with the lowest crime rate among cities in the United States with populations more than 100,000. It’s layout was designed by architect William Pereira and The Irvine Company and is nominally divided into townships called “villages.” It was formally incorporated in 1971 and has received recognition for it’s award winning schools and growing business sector (particularly technology and semiconductor).
