Newport beach is 50 miles south of Los Angeles and 85 miles north of San Diego. Temperatures average around 80 degress during the summer and mid-60s in the winter. It is 40 square miles of which 22 miles is water. Incorporated areas include Corona Del Mar, Balboa Island, Newport Coast and Balboa Peninsula.

There are plenty of shops and restaurants and Newport Harbor is one of the finest small boat harbors in the world. The beaches include legendary surf at The Wedge, tide pools in Little Corona and plenty of water activies for vistitors including the famous Catalina Flyer and whale watching. Gondola cruises are also available on the bay. There are 800 acres of The Back Bay which is a ecological reserve in the Upper Newport Bay. Known for its year-round golfing, Newport Beach offers three public and two private golf courses, some with ocean views.
